The Heart of Harmony: Community Pouring In
One of the most beautiful things about Harmony Community Cares is that our community never stops finding new ways to show up for us. This winter was a perfect example. The Knitting Club at Grace Lutheran Church showed up with hand-knit hats, warm and ready just before the coldest week of the season, placed into the hands of our kids and set out at the pantry for our families. And Ann Ryan, one of our Academic Enrichment tutors, showed up in her own way, connecting us with her employer, a shoe store in Oak Park, who donated 35 pairs of shoes for our kids and families.
A knitting club and a shoe store. A church and a tutor. Each one pouring into this community in their own creative, generous way. This is what Harmony Community Cares is built on, not just the programs we run or the services we offer, but the people who surround us and keep finding new ways to say, we are in this together.
