What's in the Bag?!

Most neighbors who shop at the Harmony Food Pantry leave with between 30 and 40 pounds of groceries, a real bounty. Getting all of that home, however, is a challenge many navigate without a car or a shopping cart. For a lot of neighbors, a suitcase on wheels has become the most reliable solution.

Recently, Grace Lutheran Church in River Forest held a rummage sale and donated the unsold luggage to the pantry. The gift was as thoughtful as it was timely. Our Grace volunteers are in the pantry regularly, and that firsthand experience gave them a clear view of what neighbors actually need. When the rummage sale came around, they saw an opportunity and took it. HCC is grateful for that kind of attentive, creative generosity.

If you are upgrading your luggage this summer, consider passing your old bags with wheels along to HCC. Our clients at the Harmony Food Pantry will put them to good use.
