Free Heart Care, Right at Your Pantry: Our Partnership with Rush Continues

Since 2024, our partnership with Rush University Medical Center has been bringing free heart health care directly to our neighbors in North Lawndale. Every month at Harmony Community Cares, cardiologist Dr. Danny Luger and his team of Rush medical students offer a free clinic where clients receive a finger stick test delivering a full lipid panel, glucose, and A1C levels. Combined with blood pressure readings, our neighbors leave with a clearer picture of their cardiovascular health and real guidance on how to protect it.

57 of our clients have walked through those doors, coming for groceries and leaving with something just as vital. We are deeply grateful for this partnership and for Rush's commitment to showing up, month after month, for our community. Together, we are proving that health equity is not just something to imagine it is something we are actively building.
